The Biopsychosocial Injury Recovery Model (BIRM) was developed to implement the Biopsychosocial Model of pain management to help improve outcomes for patients and employers with work related injuries. BIRM is a propriety algorithm developed by Lockton to identify, diagnose and treat injured workers prior to delayed recovery.
The BIRM is a comprehensive model using resources:
- including physical therapy with Medrisk; and Unify Health Services
- behavioral health assessment and intervention with Psych Group
- Pain assessments by NeuroPASGlobal.
The goal is to enable workers to be directed to appropriate and cost effective care, resulting in improved outcomes for all parties.
